Patrick (Paddy) Ryan announced as new Women’s Chief Coach.

Cambridge University Boat Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Patrick Ryan as women’s Chief Coach for the start of the 2022 Boat Race campaign. Paddy says “It has been a pleasure and an honour to have been working with these extraordinary student athletes for the last 8 years. To now lead the team is a true privilege”.

Paddy, a former teacher who won Henley Royal Regatta for Thames Rowing club in 2003, began his coaching career at London Youth Rowing. He has been the Cambridge Women’s Assistant Coach for 7 fulfilling seasons, during which he helped student athletes to develop both on and off the water. He brings with him an impressive record of Boat Race wins achieved during his tenure so far, and has helped foster team academic achievement.

Paddy harbours the necessary skills to build on the collaborative and positive team environment of the newly merged OneClub.

The team is back on the water with preparations underway for the new season and Paddy will be utilising his in-depth technical knowledge and detailed understanding of rowing on The Tideway to prepare the team for the return to London for the 2022 races.
