In memoriam: Christopher Powell (B. 68, 69)

CUBC is sad to report to its members the death of Christopher Powell (B., 1968, 1969) on December 11th after a prolonged illness.

Coming up to Downing in 1966 to read Architecture, Powell rowed in the dominant Blue Boats of 1968 and 1969, in which he rowed 4 and 5 respectively.

His crewmates have provided a list of anecdotes regarding both his rowing and of Powell as a man, which we will update further.

Perhaps at this point, the word may remain with his crew mate, Patrick Delafield, who described him as, “one of those remarkable chaps about whom we will all talk with affection and humour, from time to time, for the rest of our lives”.

His funeral details will be supplied when CUBC is informed.
