CUBC congratulates its World Championship and European U23 representatives


Imogen Grant (LWBB ’16, Blondie ’16, WBB ’17, ’18, ’22) will be aiming to defend her title in the GBR LW2x with partner Emily Craig, and add to the unbeaten streak. Also looking to defend a World Champs title and add to an impressive winning streak is Freddie Davidson (MBB ’17, ’18, ’19, ’20), stroking the GBR M4-.

Tom George and Ollie Wynne-Griffith (both MBB ’22), bronze medallists from the 2022 Championships and gold medallists throught the 2023 World Cup season, will race as the GBR M2- at the upcoming Championships with a World Cup Best Time under their belt and the record for fastest British pair ever.

Henry Fieldman’s (MBB ’13) GBR W8+ most recently secured a fantastic gold at World Cup III, and enter these Championships on the hunt for the gold.

Paige Badenhorst (WBB ’22) will compete in the RSA W2x with partner Katherine Williams, having earned a bronze at World Cup I in Zagreb earlier in the season. Jan Helmich (LM ’19) will compete in the GER PR3 Mix4+, looking to step on from last year’s silver medal-winning performance. Tokyo Olympian Dara Alizadeh (MBB ’18, ’19) races in the BER 1x.

Former CUBC Men’s Head Coach Steve Trapmore will also be in Belgrade, coaching the GB M8+, aiming to defend their 2022 title.

Racing this weekend in the U23 European Championships will be 2023 Blue Brett Taylor, and incoming triallist Gus John (formerly of Durham), who will sit at 7 and 6 respectively in the GB 8. We’re looking forward to watching them come down the course at Krefeld.
