Luca Ferraro (King’s) joins his former pair partner Ollie Parish in having done enough in his heat to progress directly to the A-Final of his event at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Sitting at 7 in the GB 8, Ferraro’s crew were led off the start by the Australian 8 for the first thousand metres before pulling ahead to record a controlled victory. GB crossed this line in 5:32, with the Australians finishing 3 seconds behind. Both crews recorded faster times than the German 8 who won the second heat, but the Germans recorded the fastest first 500, setting up a great showdown in Sunday’s Final.
