In one of the faster races on a headwind day at Henley, the CUBC lightweight 8, with Goldies Cameron Spiers and Tom Lynch filling in for Matt Edge and Ed Townsend drew a tough race against American powerhouse Washington University.
Neither crew took prisoners, the Americans rating 46 at the end of the Island, taking a 3/4 length lead on Cambridge. Both crews maintained a high rate throughout, Washington drawing to a 2 length lead at Fawley, but were unable to substantially increase their lead, ending victors by 2.5 lengths over Cambridge.
