CUBC crews had mixed results in Wednesday’s racing, its Island Challenge crew losing a hard fought race against Oxford Brookes “B”, while the Visitors’ Challenge crew took a 2.5 length lead over seeded crew University College Dublin.
In the final race of the day, the Island crew, made up of members of this year’s Blondie and Lightweight crews duelled with Brookes along the Island but the strength of the Brookes boat started to tell as they took a 2 length lead to Remenham. A spirited push by CUBC into the enclosures saw them return to a 1.5 length margin as the Brookes crew took their rate down.

UCS suffered steering difficulties along the Island, offering an opportunity to the Visitors’ crew which was not relinquished, as they took a length lead by the Barrier, and remained in complete control throughout the race.
