All CUBC Athletes through to A-Finals at European Rowing Championships

In heats, preliminaries, and semi-finals, the sun shone on all of CUBC’s representatives at the European Rowing Championships in Munich.

In the Lightweight Double Scull, Imogen Grant with partner Emily Craig dominated the field and proceed straight to the A-Final. Going stroke for stroke with a fast starting Irish crew, GB kept the pace constant while others dropped back, taking an 11 second win.

Tom George and Ollie Wynne-Griffith took a relaxed start in their heat, and were led to the 1000 by the Lithuanian crew. They then put their foot down and won by 5 seconds, going to their A/B Semi. In their semi, they were never headed, controlling the race and running out victors over Spain by 3 seconds.

In the men’s coxless four, Freddie Davidson‘s four was led by the Polish crew to the 500, but pulled out 4 seconds in the next 1000, holding that lead to the finish, avoiding the repechages and going straight to the Final.

The race for lanes in the Men’s 8, coxed by Henry Fieldman, was 3 hundredths of a second behind the new look German 8 at the first marker, but walked through in the next 500, taking the win and the pick of the lanes for Saturday’s final.
