Henley Royal Regatta

Henley Regatta saw a number of CULRC athletes competing across all boat types!

Will Hayes & Andrei Lebed continued their successful season in the coxless pair, with a narrow win of 3ft over Thames RC on the first day before going out to a strong French/Dutch international pair on the second.

John Davies was part of the Sport Imperial crew in the Thames cup, who reached the final and – in a nail-biting race – lost by just a canvas to a strong German crew.

John Hale was racing for Rob Roy in a double scull with Chris Owen, although despite a strong performance, went out to an Irish pairing on the first day.

Charlie Adams, Finn Grimwood, Simon Morris and James Price could all be found representing Cantabrigian RC in the Wyfold Challenge Cup. Unfortunately both crews went out to strong opposition on the Wednesday. All in all, great to see so many members represented at Britain’s premier rowing event.

World Rowing

Mark Aldred has continued his successful GB career with a step up into the coxless four this year. The four has won bronze medals at both the second (Aiguebelette) and third (Lucerne) world cups this summer, and they will be hoping to go a couple better in Amsterdam for the World Rowing Championships at the end of August.
