Molesey Amateur Regatta 2015

For the second weekend in a row, the Development Squad ventured south to put their training to the test with racing on the non-tidal Thames. The day started off well with both IM3 coxed fours convincingly winning their heats. Then they faced each other in the semi final and the four stroked by Gooze came out in front by a length, and proceeded to win the final by a half a length.

Then came the clash of the IM2 pairs. The pair of Snow and Roe had a successful semifinal and faced Grant and Nagy in the final. A tensely fought struggle led to victory for Grant and Nagy.

After a lunch break, the second half of the squad arrived having enjoyed a 4 hour traffic jam on their journey. The next round of IM3 pair of Holender and Nagy were unfortunately disqualified after having some steering issues. The Edwards and Grant pair endured some tough competition and a collision mid-course resulted in a re-row. Disappointingly the second row was unsuccessful for the pair.

The last races of the day were the IM3 eights. Both eights comfortably won their heats and faced each other in the final. The eight stroked by Snow had a better start which resulted in an early lead. Rose’s eight fought hard down the course and clawed back the lead to 3/4 of a length but Snow came out victorious.

Overall a successful and fun day to end Dev Squad. The whole Development Squad would like to thank the coaches for all the help in the past month, we have all learnt so much.
