Lightweight Trial Races 2017 “Forgiveness vs. Permission”

Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club has today announced its crews for the Lightweight Trial Races which will take place in Henley-On-Thames. The crews have been named “Forgiveness” and “Permission”. Race timing is currently TBC due to forecast weather conditions.

Lightweight Squad Captain, Ellie Thompson is the only returner from the 2017 winning Cambridge Lightweight crew and will race in “Forgiveness”. Ellie will be joined by many rowers who picked up the sport upon joining Cambridge University. Also in the crew will be Rebecca Hartwell who previously rowed with Manchester University Boat Club and Wallingford Rowing Club, and Victoria Walker who picked up the sport at King’s School Chester because “my brother told me to, and at that age I did everything he told me to.”

Meanwhile, “Permission” will feature Debs Oakley who picked up the sport at Lancaster University and has since rowed at Putney Town Rowing Club, Lata Persson who joins us from Lady Eleanor Holles School and Jess Godden who comes from Westminster School. Whilst Lucy Harris previously rowed at Oxford University, the remainder of the crew learned the sport through the Cambridge College system. The crew will be coxed by Tara Slade who cites her greatest sporting achievement outside of rowing as “winning inter-house tug of war”.

The crews selected are as below, listed from bow:
