Double success at the Met!

Last weekend, Holly Hill and Melissa Wilson competed in The Metropolitan Regatta at Eton Dorney Lake, winning both the Elite and Senior coxless four events. On Saturday they lined up against crews from Thames, Imperial, Durham and Leander. Having not trained with their composite crew-mates since Essen Regatta, they were a bit down on the rest of the field for the first half of the race, and only pushed through the Leander crew in the last 250m of the race, winning by a second. On the Sunday, with a switched crew order, the girls went out to race against an Irish composite and a crew from Henley. The extremely gusty conditions impacted upon the overall speed of the race, but the crew pushed out from the start to win by a convincing margin. It was a good opportunity to experiment with some new racing components post-Essen, and spend further time in a crew that will now go forward to compete at Henley Women’s Regatta in a few weeks’ time.
