Over 50 students from 5 schools visited CUBC’s Ely Boathouse to participate in a learn-to-row programme and experience the possibilities that rowing can open up for them.

After learning the basics on the ergo, then racing on the erg, students took to the water for a short-course regatta in front of the Ely Boathouse.

After some great and close competition, the learn-to-row programme and regatta were topped off by a closing chat from CUBC’s incoming Women’s President, Dr. Lucy Havard, who spoke about her pathway into rowing, guiding the new rowers with her experiences. Lucy spoke further about the balancing act of training and rowing which all student rowers experience, and expressed her hope that the future would bring Ely College athletes to study and row at Cambridge.
