Rob Baker, CUBC Men’s Head Coach, has been invited to support the Dutch National Team sweep crews in their summer programme up to the World Championships.
The invitation recognises Rob’s coaching expertise and provides an opportunity for him to work with a world‑leading national programme, competing on the international stage. It reflects the esteem in which Rob is held within the global rowing community. The role is for a limited number of days and is designed to allow Rob to continue leading the CUBC’s men’s programme through the summer including the Henley Royal Regatta campaign.
The CUBC men’s squad currently boasts both depth and ambition, with two eights and a four preparing for Henley, supported by a strong and experienced coaching team led by Rob and including Bill Lucas, Nick Acock and Marco Banović.
CUBC welcomes international opportunities that stretch and challenge its coaches and athletes. Experiences at the highest level ultimately benefit the wider squad and the Club as a whole. Rob’s involvement with the Dutch programme aligns with this philosophy, strengthening links with international rowing and bringing valuable insight back to Cambridge.
Rob looks forward to sharing reflections and learning experiences with the CUBC community and alumni following the summer racing period.
Said Rob:
“This is an exciting opportunity for me. While I remain fully committed to CUBC, I am always looking for ways to continue learning and developing as a coach. I am extremely grateful for the flexibility and support that allows me to coach at the highest levels of international rowing while also leading the phenomenal group of athletes we have at Cambridge this year.
I hope to report back at the end of the summer on success at Henley, success on the World Cup circuit, and then be ready to welcome the new squad to Cambridge for the year ahead.”
