Cambridge athletes put in a solid showing at Henley Women’s Regatta 2025, highlighted by a commanding victory from alumna Imogen Grant.
Parkside Trophy
After winning silver in the Lightweight Women’s Pair at Met Regatta, Madeline Jackson (St Edmund’s) and Freya Clarkson (Emmanuel) teamed up in the Championship Lightweight Pair.
Jackson and Clarkson recorded a time of 06:31.16 in the semi-finals, where they were defeated by Newcastle University — the eventual winners. Notably, the Newcastle boat was named after CUBC rower Tom Ford.
Said Jackson as she reflected on the event, “Racing between the booms is always a privilege and this weekend was no different for the three CUBC crews! All three crews had a great time and it was lovely to catch up with other university crews we met at BUCS. For the lightweight pair, we were knocked out in the semi-final to the eventual winners and a huge congratulations must go to Newcastle who led the field with a very impressive performance.
We were also pleased with our progress since Met Regatta and most importantly had the best time racing with each other! Henley Women’s is always a special event and on behalf of CUBC I’d like to thank the organisers, officials and everyone that works so hard behind the scenes to make it happen! We look forward to returning to the race next year.”
Godfrey Trophy
Claire Cooper (Sidney Sussex) returned to the Lightweight Championship Single for a second consecutive year, clocking 06:57.98 in the semi-finals but ultimately being edged out by UCL.
George Innes Cup
After an excellent row, Polly Shorrock (Trinity) sadly missed out on qualifying in the Championship Single by 0.7 seconds.
Racing as Upper Thames (but in her CUW Henley), alumna Imogen Grant went on to win the event ‘Easily’ against Leander Club with a time of 06:36.72.
