Volunteers

Cambridge University Boat Club seeks to provide a meaningful experience to all who volunteer for the Club and its various entities. In 2023-24 we had over 100 alumni, parents, and supporters volunteering with the Club in formal and informal ways. Thank you to all who contribute their time and expertise to the betterment of the Club.

If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sarah Shipton (Blue Boat 2001, 02) at alumni@cubc.org.uk.

Past Presidents and Reunion Organisers

We wish to thank the many alumni who remain involved with the Club in informal ways, including past presidents and those who organise crew reunions each year. The role of a student president is a position that lasts a lifetime. Past presidents and leaders play a crucial role in our efforts to remain connected to the wider alumni community and we are grateful for their ongoing leadership.

Reunion organisers also play a critical role in linking the past and the present, connecting alumni with the current student experience. The Club can support those wishing to organise reunions in several ways.

Teams Hosts

To the members of our community who host student-athletes in their homes, we want to thank you for your generosity. The success of our crews would be impossible without you, and your ongoing hospitality is sincerely appreciated.

We are already seeking 2024-25 team hosts for the Tideway and Henley. If you are willing to host or would like more information, please reach out to Fiona Gabrielczyk, Executive Secretary, at admin@cubc.org.uk.

Communications

The Club would like to thank Emily Morbey, our Social Media Manager, and Nordin Catic, our Digital Content Producer, for their time and talent in sharing CUBC stories.

We are always looking for volunteers interested in writing stories for the CUBC website. Please contact Sarah-Kate Roberts, Head of Philanthropy and Communications, at sarah-kate@cubc.org.uk for more information.

Archives

Preserving the history of high-performance rowing at Cambridge is of the utmost importance to the unified Club. CUBC would like to thank Steve Jones (Lwt 1980, 81, 82, 83) for his efforts in creating the new lightweight rowing archive, David Cruttenden (Blue Boat 1969, 70) for his efforts in preparation for the 200th anniversary of The Boat Race, and Jane (Blue Boat 1971, 72, 72, Blondie 70) and the late Nick Kingsbury for their decades-long effort to preserve the history of women’s rowing at Cambridge (to be featured in the upcoming 100th anniversary of the first women’s Boat Race).

If you have items to contribute to the archives please email alumni@cubc.org.uk.
