Victory for the Women’s Lightweight 8

Raced under COVID-safe conditions as a private fixture, CUBC’s Women’s Lightweight 8 took on OUWLRC at Ely on Tuesday 18th May.

Umpired by 2017 and 2019 Blue Matthew Holland, the race was neck and neck down the course, both crews swapping the lead several times until CUBC made a dominating move at the 3k mark to take the lead over the Dark Blues. The Cambridge crew then extended this lead in the final stages of the race and claimed the win by 2.5 lengths.

The entire Lightweight Women’s group deserves congratulations for the dedication and resilience they have shown this season, particularly during times of extreme uncertainty. CUBC wishes to thank the race organisers, the race sponsor – Interactive Investor, and all of the volunteers who made running this race possible.

We look forward to Sunday 23rd of May where our Men’s Lightweight crew will seek to make it #sixfromsix
