CUBC triallists and alumni successful at GB Rowing Long Distance Trials

The 5k course at Boston, Lincolnshire, proved a happy hunting ground for CUBC triallists and alumni on Saturday.

Current triallists and 2022 Blues Ollie Parish (Peterhouse) and Luca Ferraro (King’s) repeated their success and were the fastest Men’s U23 pair by a margin, setting them up well for the Gemini Boat Races on March 26th. Parish and Ferraro will look to once again be selected for GB Rowing’s U23 team for 2023. They were closely followed by Cameron Spiers (Downing) and Brett Taylor (Queens’), who were the 5th placed U23 pair in a new combination.

It was also a good day for CUBC alumni, as Imogen Grant (Trinity) once again was the fastest lightweight female scullerr, placing 4th overall in the sculling ranks. Grant led her world championship double scull partner Emily Craig by 5 seconds, and they look likely to be selected for the 2023 World Championships.

2023 Blues Ollie Wynne-Griffith (Peterhouse) and Tom George (Peterhouse) took a comfortable win in the Open pair, proving themselves once again the dominant men’s pair in GB Rowing.
