CUBC congratulates its World Champions and World Championship Medallists

The weekend was a fruitful one for CUBC members, with 3 World Championships and a bronze and silver medal won by Club members.

Saturday was led off by Grace Prendergast (Queens’) who with her pair partner Kerri Williams won the Women’s Pair for New Zealand, retaining the title they had won in Tokyo 2020, taking the lead in the second 500 and never relinquishing the gold medal position.

Next were Tom George and Ollie Wynne-Griffith (both Peterhouse) who took a bronze in the Men’s Pair. After a slow start, they worked their way through the field, and recorded the fastest final thousand to take bronze from Serbia.

Granta alumnus Jan Helmich  (Trinity Hall) rowed in the German Mixed 4+ which took silver behind GB, and will be returning to the Lwt squad.

Imogen Grant’s (Trinity) victory in the Lightweight Women’s Double Scull was never in doubt. Grant and her partner Emily Craig took the lead early and were never headed.

It may have taken Freddie Davidson (Emmanuel) and the GB Coxless Four until their third 500 to take the lead from reigning Olympic champions Australia, but they showed their class in taking Gold on a great day for CUBC.
