Fairbairn Cup

On Friday 30th Novemeber we saw CULRC return to the Cam to race at the Fairbairn Cup, the race which marked the first landmark competition in rowing for the majority of the crew. Eager to use this opportunity to show their development over the last few months, the crew (consisting almost entirely of newcomers to CULRC) attacked the piece with gusto and force, putting us off to a strong start. Unfortunately, the sharp bends of the Cam provided a significant challenge to us; however, the crew didn’t let off the pressure, and sprung out of every corner with a vengeance, leading to us finishing in second place, only one second behind the winning crew of the day.

We look forward to returning next year, and hopefully reclaiming the title as the fastest crew at the Fairbairn Cup.
