Quintin Head -Race Report by Sophie Deans:

It was a successful day with our two Openweight women’s eights winning the Championship 8 and Senior 8 divisions. Quintin Head gave us another great opportunity to practice racing on the Tideway and managing strong wind conditions. The Quintin Head course is the Championship Boat Race course in reverse, finishing just after Hammersmith Bridge. Since it is a shortened course, we knew the race would be over quickly and sooner than we expected, so we had a plan to go out hard with an aggressive start. We maintained this aggressive, strong rhythm well throughout the piece and it was a really fun race despite the freezing conditions. We are proud of our effort but also excited to get back to work this week as there is always room for further improvement.
Our second entry into the Senior 8 category was the Lightweight Women’s crew, who came an incredible 4th in a competitive openweight field. They continued to focus on mastering the tricky water on the Tideway as they prepare for some race fixtures and practice pieces here in the next few weeks.
