After putting in a serious performance in the time trial, we came in 6th earning us a spot in the A final, alongside the likes of Imperial College, Edinburgh University and University of British Columbia.
During the Final, we found some unprecedented speeds in the first 1000m, with a clean start and a quick shift earning us a quick advantage over lanes 4,5 and 7. Through the third 500m, the bottom half of the field began to catch us back, with Aberdeen University managing to get their bow ball just a fraction ahead by the time we came through the 1500m mark.
Angela Harper, (Churchill College) joined the squad via our Development Squad as a coxswain very recently. She responded fantastically to the challenge from the other crew and called her instructions clearly from the bows of the boat. We made an effective build which saw us fight tooth and nail across the final 500m, beating Aberdeen to 4th place by 0.6 seconds.
We were incredibly pleased with our performance at Marlow, and it gives us some confidence with which to approach Henley Royal Regatta Qualifiers for the Prince Albert Trophy next Friday.
