Henley Boat Races 2005

The 2005 Blue Boat celebrating their win. After three successive defeats in the Women’s Boat Race Cambridge finally turned the tide and secured their first win since 2001.

A massive congratulations to the CUWBC Blue Boat who beat OUWBC Blue Boat by 2 1/3 lengths in a time of 6.27.

The Lightweight and Blondie crews both put in strong performances, highlighting how the squad this year has grown in depth, despite wins to Oxford in both races.

The Easter weekend, blessed by warm sunshine and blue skies for at least part of the day, brought out record crowds on and off the water, but the lack of stream and a slight head wind meant slow times overall. At the end of the day the trophies were presented by Guin Batten, Olympic silver medallist in the GB women’s quad scull at Sydney.
