Catherine and I are very excited to be representing England at the Home International Regatta this year.
This will be our third time competing at the event, but our first time as seniors. We are looking forward to racing against some of the older crews from other nations.
Selection for the event took place at the London Docklands on 14th July, and we managed to qualify for the Lightweight Women’s Coxless Pair.
We have also been asked to compete as part of the Openweight Women’s Eight. There will be people from 6 different clubs in the eight so it will be interesting to see how we row together, and also exciting to be back in big boats again!
The actual event is taking place on the 27th July in Strathclyde in Scotland and consists of races between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Racing is over 2000m, with points being awarded for each race that are added together for each nation to give a total team score.
Hopefully we can help the senior women’s team to secure a win!
Catherine and Gemma have just completed their first year at Cambridge and were key members of the Lightweight Women’s Eight that raced at Henley in March. Good Luck!
