The Cambridge University Openweight Women’s Rowing Team will begin their 2018-19 Season racing at the British Rowing Senior Championships in Nottingham this weekend.
2 coxless fours and a double scull will don the Light Blue strip to represent Cambridge against other Universities and Clubs from across the country on the purpose built 2000m course at the National Water Sports Centre.
The ‘A’ crew features Ida Gørtz Jacobsen (Newnham) who has joined CUWBC fresh from the World Rowing Championships where she finished 4th in the Danish Women’s four. She will be joined by returning Blue Patricia Smith (Christ’s) and fellow Christ’s Student Pippa Whittaker who has represented Great Britain twice at the World University Rowing Championships. Completing the line-up will be Lily Lindsay, one of three students who has joined us from Yale University this year. Lily won a bronze medal in the American Women’s Eight at this year’s World Rowing U23 Championships.
3 returning members from the victorious 2018 ‘Blondie’ reserve boat will race in the ‘B’ crew alongside PhD student Sally O’Brien (Peterhouse).
