3 women will represent CUWBC at Henley Royal Regatta this week, racing in 3 different events.
Henley Royal Regatta is undoubtedly the best-known regatta in the world. It is a highlight of both the summer sporting calendar and the social season. The Regatta attracts thousands of visitors over a five-day period. Spectators are thrilled by over 200 races of an international standard, which can include Olympic rowers as well as crews new to the event.
Imogen Grant (Trinity) will race in the Princess Royal Challenge Cup for single sculls. Her first race will be against Alice Baatz on Thursday 5 July. Baatz represented Great Britain in the Openweight Single Scull at the 2nd World Cup recently, Grant represented Great Britain in the Lightweight Single Scull at the 1st World Cup.
Holly Hill (Downing) will race in the Remenham Challenge Cup for Women’s Eights. The crew, listed in the racing program as ‘Leander and UL’, includes athletes from five different clubs, and is a new combination which includes the four who won the silver medal at the recent World Cup regatta in Linz. Racing begins for this crew on Friday.
Melissa Wilson (Lucy Cavendish) will race as “CUWBC and Imperial College” in the Princess Grace Challenge Cup for Women’s Quadruple Quads. The crew will have their first race on Friday against Leander Club.
