Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club has announced the line-ups for their three crews that will race at the Women’s Eights Head of the River in London tomorrow, Saturday 11 March 2017.
The race which includes 320 women’s eights from universities, schools and clubs across the country, and also international entries, will start at 3:30pm. The crews will race over the reverse of the Boat Race Course, from Chiswick Bridge to Putney. In 2015 and 2016, CUWBC finished 5th overall, being the fastest university crew on both occasions.
The 3 crews from CUWBC are in addition to 22 entries from Cambridge University College Boat Clubs making Cambridge University the most represented university at the event by far.
CUWBC’s A crew which is entered in the Elite category will start the race 5th and will be steered over the course by Matthew Holland (Gonville & Caius) will include 7 of the 8 rowers that were the fastest women’s crew at the Quintin Head in January.
The B crew will be stroked by Emma Andrews (Pembroke), a 1st year Natural Sciences student who has joined us from Putney High School, and includes 3 rowers and the cox who learned to row with their College Boat Club in Cambridge.
The Club will also field a development crew in the Intermediate category which includes 4 rowers who have learned to row with their College and recently joined the CUWBC Development Squad.
