The British Women’s Pair announced today for the World Rowing Championships in Florida is an all-Cambridge boat containing Melissa Wilson (Lucy Cavendish) and Holly Hill (Downing).
Hill and Wilson are part of the 64 strong Team that have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, between Sunday, 24 September and Sunday, 1 October.
Speaking on their selection, Melissa said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be selected for our first Senior World Championships. We were really inspired by the calibre of competition out in Lucerne at the last World Cup and have been looking to build on our result in the GB Final Trials to see how far we can take this combination. After such a memorable year in the Cambridge squad we are eager to see what we can do over the next seven weeks.”
Looking ahead towards the Championships, Holly commented:
“We’re just about to head to Italy for a 3 week training camp and although it’ll be a big work camp for us, we’re looking forward to making the most of the sunshine and flat water. The conditions out there will be quite similar to those we’ll face out in Florida so it’s a great chance to start acclimatising and see what speed we can find in the conditions.”
