Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club picked up medals in all of the openweight Championship sweep events at the BUCS Regatta last weekend alongside medals in 3 of the lightweight events.
The BUCS Regatta which saw a record entry of over 1200 crews was attended by 72 Universities from across the UK.
CUWBC finished 2nd in the women’s Victor Ludorum, the highest position for the Club in a number of years. Cambridge finished 6th in the medal table with 3 Gold, 3 Silver and bronze, only beaten by Clubs who won medals with both Men’s and Women’s Crews.

Women’s Championship Eight – GOLD
Women’s Championship Coxless Fous – GOLD
Women’s Championship Lightweight Pair – GOLD
Women’s Championship Coxless Pair – SILVER
Women’s Championship Lightweight Four – SILVER
Women’s Championship Lightweight Quad – SILVER
Women’s Championship Coxed Four – BRONZE
The event was held over three days and the medal haul began on the Saturday with Alice White (Homerton) and Myriam Goudet (Lucy Cavendish) winning silver in the Championship Pair. The duo went on to pick up two more medals each over the weekend as they raced in the Championship Eight on Sunday (Gold) and the Championship Coxless Four on Monday (Gold).
Speaking after the Regatta, Alice said:
“We had a great start to our summer program at BUCS Regatta. It was exciting to be back in some tight six-boat races and to see so many athletes enjoying the sport!”
The Championship Eight which was formed of rowers from this year’s victorious Blue Boat and Reserve boat led their final from the start, winning by over 7 seconds ahead of Oxford Brookes.
CUWBC’s Development Squad also attended the event with the Women’s Beginner Coxed four reaching the final (top 6) of the event which had over 50 entries.
