Cambridge University Rowing is searching for an aspirational Assistant Coach to work at the heart of its performance programme, developing student athletes to represent Cambridge University in the Boat Races and beyond. This role will appeal to an ambitious coach who is a good communicator and wishes to be part of a quality performance team, working with high-achieving student athletes.
The successful individual will be an essential part of a three-person professional coaching team tasked with building on, and enhancing, the existing performance programme. They will need to be able to work with a range of athletes, from those who are relatively new to performance sport and rowing, to those who have international experience. Building a positive team-culture, understanding differing athlete needs and the ability to fast-track high potential athletes will be critical capabilities for the role.
The Assistant Coach will be required to assist, and contribute to, the design, organisation and execution of the year-round performance programme. They will share coaching responsibilities for men’s and women’s lightweights and women’s open-weight student athletes. They will also need to recognise their role in helping athletes to balance a demanding academic schedule with high-performance rowing. Applications are invited from individuals with a strong understanding of elite level competition and training.
