Abigail Parker Elected as CUWBC President 2018/19

CUWBC is delighted to announce that Abigail Parker (Emmanuel), formerly of Harvard University, has been elected as CUWBC President for the 2019 Boat Race Season.

Abigail, who is studying for a PhD in Zoology learned to race at Winsor School, USA before moving to Harvard where she raced in the Varsity Eight during the regular season. She got into rowing after being born with two rowing coaches for parents.

Speaking on her election, Abigail said:

“I am honored and excited to serve as CUWBC President next year. This club is an amazing group of strong women, and I will strive every day to uphold our tradition of excellence. I look forward to working with the core group of returners we have next year and welcoming many new members to the squad to build our performance culture and maximize the speed of all of our boats.”

Emma Andrews (Pembroke) who learned to row at Putney High School has been elected as Vice President and Jessica Godden (Emmanuel) who learned with Westminster School, as Lightweight Captain.

During the elections, CUWBC Chair, Siobhan Cassidy thanked the outgoing Junior Committee (Daphne Martschenko, Patricia Smith and Ellie Thompson) for all of their hard work during such a successful year for the Club.
