In spite of our world-class coaches and facillities, Boat Races can be lost before trialling has started if the Club does not have the right students.

CUBC is always on the lookout for alumni to help identify prospective applicants to Cambridge. Alumni support to direct applicants toward the Club is hugely valuable, and we rely on it to support the efforts of the coaches in their outreach.

It’s important to note that CUBC has no admissions sway: our triallists are admitted on the academic merits, not their athletic achievements.

Our asks of you are simple:

  • Where possible, you visit the campus of your alma mater to follow their training sessions and talk about CUBC, communicating your results and visit to the Club, and
  • That you provide the best information possible to prospective students about applying to Cambridge

If you’re not able to visit your previous University or school, your support within the Talent ID network is also valuable. Our coaches and staff are knowledgeable about most aspects of the application process, but they do not have the lived experience of studying at Cambridge in every course from ASNAC to zoology, and studying at every college from Christ’s to Wolfson. We will provide appropriate information regarding applications, GPAs and other requirements
