CUBC athletes top the table at GB Trials

On a blustery Saturday at Boston, Lincolnshire, CUBC athletes topped the tables in a number of categories. Tom George (Peterhouse) and Oliver Wynne-Griffith (Peterhouse) were the fastest boat of the day in the Senior Men’s Pair, taking the win by over 10 seconds.

Meanwhile, 2021 Olympian Imogen Grant (Trinity) dominated the Lightweight Women’s Single with a time that placed her third in the openweight category. CUBC’s other lightweight representative, Matthew Edge (St. Catharine’s) took a comfortable win in the U23 Lightweight Single, his time faster than “Giant-Killer” Matt Brigham.

Luca Ferraro (King’s) and Oliver Parish (Peterhouse) took the victory in U23 pairs by 17 seconds, while Sarah Portsmouth (Newnham) and Bronya Sykes (Caius) were the fastest non-Caversham pair. Portsmouth was also by a margin the fastest U23 athlete in women’s sweep.

CUBC also recorded strong performances in U23 pairs from Jo Matthews (St. John’s) and Alex Riddell-Webster (Murray Edwards), along with Reef Boericke (Caius) and Cameron Spiers (Downing).
